The R&D Electrical Engineer is responsible for the RFQ designs and review of new electronic products. This includes specification reviews, development program timelines and reports, electronic module design and development for demo units, value analysis/ value engineering of existing products, design reviews, simple mechanical designs, documentation packages, pre-production builds and transfers to production.


  • Leads the advanced hardware development of media hub units and technology for In-Vehicle infotainment systems
  • Leads product design reviews for own designs and participates in peer design reviews
  • Designs reference schematics and layout implementations for circuits used in USB charging, USB communications, USB Power Delivery, wireless charging, and Ethernet
  • Provides input to the electrical production BOM’s. Assists with updates to and releases of BOM’s using Amphenol Tecvox’s configuration management & PLM systems
  • Provides written and verbal technical responses to customer RFI & RFQ’s
  • Presents detailed technical information to customers and integrates customer feedback into new designs
  • Designs, analyzes, specifies, and characterizes electrical circuits and determines their performance characteristics using Altium and engineering CAE analysis tools such as PSpice
  • Supports the development and review of FMEA’s
  • Assists in the realization of customer requirements and specifications (RFC, RFI, RFQ), product test plans, and production QA processes as needed to ensure the development and manufacture of quality media and charging products
  • Confers with engineers, customers, or others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects or products
  • Prepares technical drawings and specifications of electrical systems to ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements
  • Prepare specifications and justifications for purchases of materials or equipment
  • Operate computer-assisted engineering or design software or equipment to perform engineering tasks
  • Coordinates support, documentation, or testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements
  • Investigates or tests vendors’ or competitors’ products
  • Performs detailed calculations to compute and establish manufacturing, construction, or installation standards or specifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of EE experience
  • Ability to read and interpret Electrical Schematics
  • Understanding of Electronic Circuit Design
  • Ability to conduct failure analysis on electronic modules
  • Fluent in the use of Laboratory Equipment for Failure Analysis
  • Capable of finding root cause of the failure
  • Able to write reports of findings from Failure Analysis
  • System integration knowledge
  • Embedded Software knowledge a plus
