The Design Quality Engineer (DQE) will lead in the implementation and assurance of Quality in Design. Support Engineering from Initial Concept/Design transmittal to Production. Responsibility and accountability with the appropriate authority to correct errors in the Initial Concept/Design phase.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and management of the Advance Product Quality Plan for all new programs
  • Work directly with Program Manager to maintain Quality of Design through entire Product Development Life Cycle from Concept to Production Start
  • Work with Customer and Program Manager to understand requirements, breakdown, and create requirement checklists
  • Work with Engineering Design team to ensure all customer and internal requirements are captured, reviewed and implemented in final product
  • Lead project teams on Advance Product Quality Planning efforts from Concept to PPAP
  • Develop, Review and approve all Quality Documents as required during Design and development Phase (e.g. Concept Diagrams, P-Diagrams, Boundary Diagrams, etc.)
  • Facilitate DFMEA and FTA (or equivalent) development (Electrical, Mechanical, System) and ascertain approval from customer
  • Lead project teams in Quality Design and Test (ED Testing, DV and PV Testing)
  • Responsible for DV and PV Test Management
  • Development of DV and PV Plan with Engineering
  • Ascertain Approval from Customer on DV and PV Plan
  • Manage DV and PV Testing (DVPR/PVPR) from start to finish
  • Ensure that Tests reports are approved by appropriate engineering discipline at completion of each phase
  • Update and distribute the DV/PV Report internally and to the Customer
  • Create and Maintain Lessons Learned Databases of Design and Development Quality and Program Issues
  • Collaborate with Production Quality to ensure that the Lessons Learned Database is comprehensive of Experienced Production issues
  • Facilitate Lessons Learned Workshops throughout Product Development Life Cycle
  • Lead problem solving methods using industry tools and methods during design and development phase
  • Develop and/or approve Engineering Specifications
  • Understand ISO and TS requirements
  • Manage Supplier PPAP through design phase
  • Support customer audits as needed
  • Support Supplier Readiness Evaluation Builds and Product Demonstration Builds
  • Initiate APQP and complete through design phase
  • Initiate PPAP Package on products and follow through with team to ensure Customer Approval
  • Support manufacturing on the PFMEA
  • Develop Functional Circuit Tester (FCT) and End of Line Tester (EOL) specifications and documents
  • Manage Safe Launch activities during new product introduction

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related Engineering discipline, and/or sufficient years of experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of Tier 1 Automotive QE production experience
  • APQP experience – from Initial Concept/Design transmittal to Production
  • PPAP and DV/PV experience
  • Warranty analysis
  • Proficient with MS Office applications
